The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor the ruler's staff from between his feet, until he comes to whom it belongs; and to him shall be the obedience of the peoples.


Then I said, “Lo, I come; in the roll of the book it is written of me;


“And he will come to Zion as Redeemer, to those in Jacob who turn from transgression, says the Lord.


I will cleanse them from all the guilt of their sin against me, and I will forgive all the guilt of their sin and rebellion against me.


“Behold, I send my messenger to prepare the way before me, and the Lord whom you seek will suddenly come to his temple; the messenger of the covenant in whom you delight, behold, he is coming, says the Lord of hosts.


and said to him, “Are you he who is to come, or shall we look for another?”


‘And you, O Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for from you shall come a ruler who will govern my people Israel.’ ”


“We heard him say, ‘I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and in three days I will build another, not made with hands.’ ”


And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth; we have beheld his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father.


The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah is coming (he who is called Christ); when he comes, he will show us all things.”


Yet the Most High does not dwell in houses made with hands; as the prophet says,


because we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen; for the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.


For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.


In him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of flesh in the circumcision of Christ;


For since the law has but a shadow of the good things to come instead of the true form of these realities, it can never, by the same sacrifices which are continually offered year after year, make perfect those who draw near.


This phrase, “Yet once more,” indicates the removal of what is shaken, as of what has been made, in order that what cannot be shaken may remain.


For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city which is to come.


Therefore he had to be made like his brethren in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make expiation for the sins of the people.


Therefore, holy brethren, who share in a heavenly call, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession.


For we have not a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.


For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him;


And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, to know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.


For many deceivers have gone out into the world, men who will not acknowledge the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh; such a one is the deceiver and the antichrist.
