Better is a little that the righteous has than the abundance of many wicked.


Insults have broken my heart, so that I am in despair. I looked for pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none.


For it is for thy sake that I have borne reproach, that shame has covered my face.


A wicked man earns deceptive wages, but one who sows righteousness gets a sure reward.


Surely there is a future, and your hope will not be cut off.


“Hearken to me, you who know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; fear not the reproach of men, and be not dismayed at their revilings.


He who receives a prophet because he is a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward, and he who receives a righteous man because he is a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.


Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so men persecuted the prophets who were before you.


“Beware of practicing your piety before men in order to be seen by them; for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.


and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. You will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.”


So therefore, whoever of you does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple.


Then they left the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor for the name.


For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities; for when I am weak, then I am strong.


as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing everything.


having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints,


To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ,


But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ.


sometimes being publicly exposed to abuse and affliction, and sometimes being partners with those so treated.


Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward.


And without faith it is impossible to please him. For whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.


Therefore let us go forth to him outside the camp, and bear the abuse he endured.


For if the message declared by angels was valid and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution,


they inquired what person or time was indicated by the Spirit of Christ within them when predicting the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glory.


If you are reproached for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.


“ ‘I know your tribulation and your poverty (but you are rich) and the slander of those who say that they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.


Therefore I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, that you may be rich, and white garments to clothe you and to keep the shame of your nakedness from being seen, and salve to anoint your eyes, that you may see.


The Lord recompense you for what you have done, and a full reward be given you by the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge!”
