When he was about to enter Egypt, he said to Sarai his wife, “I know that you are a woman beautiful to behold;


and I will make you swear by the Lord, the God of heaven and of the earth, that you will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell,


and they made life bitter for Isaac and Rebekah.


Then Rebekah said to Isaac, “I am weary of my life because of the Hittite women. If Jacob marries one of the Hittite women such as these, one of the women of the land, what good will my life be to me?”


So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate; and she also gave some to her husband, and he ate.


To Seth also a son was born, and he called his name Enosh. At that time men began to call upon the name of the Lord.


When men began to multiply on the face of the ground, and daughters were born to them,


Then the Lord said, “My spirit shall not abide in man for ever, for he is flesh, but his days shall be a hundred and twenty years.”


It happened, late one afternoon, when David arose from his couch and was walking upon the roof of the king's house, that he saw from the roof a woman bathing; and the woman was very beautiful.


Therefore give not your daughters to their sons, neither take their daughters for your sons, and never seek their peace or prosperity, that you may be strong, and eat the good of the land, and leave it for an inheritance to your children for ever.’


Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them.


“I have made a covenant with my eyes; how then could I look upon a virgin?


and you take of their daughters for your sons, and their daughters play the harlot after their gods and make your sons play the harlot after their gods.

Judah has been faithless, and abomination has been committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah has profaned the sanctuary of the Lord, which he loves, and has married the daughter of a foreign god.


Has not the one God made and sustained for us the spirit of life? And what does he desire? Godly offspring. So take heed to yourselves, and let none be faithless to the wife of his youth.


A wife is bound to her husband as long as he lives. If the husband dies, she is free to be married to whom she wishes, only in the Lord.


and I will be a father to you, and you shall be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”


“You are the sons of the Lord your God; you shall not cut yourselves or make any baldness on your foreheads for the dead.


They have eyes full of adultery, insatiable for sin. They entice unsteady souls. They have hearts trained in greed. Accursed children!


For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the pride of life, is not of the Father but is of the world.
