And the Lord said to Moses, “Go down and warn the people, lest they break through to the Lord to gaze and many of them perish.


And Moses told Aaron all the words of the Lord with which he had sent him, and all the signs which he had charged him to do.


Guard your steps when you go to the house of God; to draw near to listen is better than to offer the sacrifice of fools; for they do not know that they are doing evil.


Their prince shall be one of themselves, their ruler shall come forth from their midst; I will make him draw near, and he shall approach me, for who would dare of himself to approach me? says the Lord.


Then Moses said to Aaron, “This is what the Lord has said, ‘I will show myself holy among those who are near me, and before all the people I will be glorified.’ ” And Aaron held his peace.


And the Lord said to him, ‘Take off the shoes from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.


Because the Lord your God walks in the midst of your camp, to save you and to give up your enemies before you, therefore your camp must be holy, that he may not see anything indecent among you, and turn away from you.


For they could not endure the order that was given, “If even a beast touches the mountain, it shall be stoned.”


And the commander of the Lord's army said to Joshua, “Put off your shoes from your feet; for the place where you stand is holy.” And Joshua did so.
