On the third day Joseph said to them, “Do this and you will live, for I fear God:


But the king's word prevailed against Joab and the commanders of the army. So Joab and the commanders of the army went out from the presence of the king to number the people of Israel.


The former governors who were before me laid heavy burdens upon the people, and took from them food and wine, besides forty shekels of silver. Even their servants lorded it over the people. But I did not do so, because of the fear of God.


Then the king's servants who were at the king's gate said to Mordecai, “Why do you transgress the king's command?”


O how abundant is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for those who fear thee, and wrought for those who take refuge in thee, in the sight of the sons of men!


So the king of Egypt called the midwives, and said to them, “Why have you done this, and let the male children live?”


And because the midwives feared God he gave them families.


By loyalty and faithfulness iniquity is atoned for, and by the fear of the Lord a man avoids evil.


The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil. Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate.


The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God, and keep his commandments; for this is the whole duty of man.


Though a sinner does evil a hundred times and prolongs his life, yet I know that it will be well with those who fear God, because they fear before him;


Then they answered before the king, “That Daniel, who is one of the exiles from Judah, pays no heed to you, O king, or the interdict you have signed, but makes his petition three times a day.”


Ephraim is oppressed, crushed in judgment, because he was determined to go after vanity.

And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.


But I will warn you whom to fear: fear him who, after he has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes, I tell you, fear him!


But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men.


And the king said to the guard who stood about him, “Turn and kill the priests of the Lord; because their hand also is with David, and they knew that he fled, and did not disclose it to me.” But the servants of the king would not put forth their hand to fall upon the priests of the Lord.
