and he drank of the wine, and became drunk, and lay uncovered in his tent.


I am the talk of those who sit in the gate, and the drunkards make songs about me.


Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler; and whoever is led astray by it is not wise.


Draw me after you, let us make haste. The king has brought me into his chambers. We will exult and rejoice in you; we will extol your love more than wine; rightly do they love you.


and your kisses like the best wine that goes down smoothly, gliding over lips and teeth.


On this mountain the Lord of hosts will make for all peoples a feast of fat things, a feast of wine on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wine on the lees well refined.


Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine, and valiant men in mixing strong drink,


“Ho, every one who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

for he will be great before the Lord, and he shall drink no wine nor strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb.


If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”


But if that servant says to himself, ‘My master is delayed in coming,’ and begins to beat the menservants and the maidservants, and to eat and drink and get drunk,


“But take heed to yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a snare;


and said to him, “Every man serves the good wine first; and when men have drunk freely, then the poor wine; but you have kept the good wine until now.”


for he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a large company was added to the Lord.


let us conduct ourselves becomingly as in the day, not in reveling and drunkenness, not in debauchery and licentiousness, not in quarreling and jealousy.


For in eating, each one goes ahead with his own meal, and one is hungry and another is drunk.
