And the king answered them harshly, and forsaking the counsel of the old men,


So the king did not hearken to the people; for it was a turn of affairs brought about by God that the Lord might fulfil his word, which he spoke by Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.


The thoughts of the righteous are just; the counsels of the wicked are treacherous.


The beginning of strife is like letting out water; so quit before the quarrel breaks out.


Woe to you, O land, when your king is a child, and your princes feast in the morning!


and who knows whether he will be a wise man or a fool? Yet he will be master of all for which I toiled and used my wisdom under the sun. This also is vanity.


Better is the end of a thing than its beginning; and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.
