42 Then Jonathan said to David, “Go in peace, forasmuch as we have sworn both of us in the name of the Lord, saying, ‘The Lord shall be between me and you, and between my descendants and your descendants, for ever.’ ” And he rose and departed; and Jonathan went into the city.

and do not cut off your loyalty from my house for ever. When the Lord cuts off every one of the enemies of David from the face of the earth,


let not the name of Jonathan be cut off from the house of David. And may the Lord take vengeance on David's enemies.”


And the two of them made a covenant before the Lord; David remained at Horesh, and Jonathan went home.


Then David received from her hand what she had brought him; and he said to her, “Go up in peace to your house; see, I have hearkened to your voice, and I have granted your petition.”
