7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for the Lord sees not as man sees; man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”

Now in all Israel there was no one so much to be praised for his beauty as Absalom; from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head there was no blemish in him.


And what more can David say to thee? For thou knowest thy servant, O Lord God!


then hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place, and forgive, and act, and render to each whose heart thou knowest, according to all his ways (for thou, thou only, knowest the hearts of all the children of men);


And what more can David say to thee for honoring thy servant? For thou knowest thy servant.


“And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father, and serve him with a whole heart and with a willing mind; for the Lord searches all hearts, and understands every plan and thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will cast you off for ever.


For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show his might in behalf of those whose heart is blameless toward him. You have done foolishly in this; for from now on you will have wars.”


then hear thou from heaven thy dwelling place, and forgive, and render to each whose heart thou knowest, according to all his ways (for thou, thou only, knowest the hearts of the children of men);


Hast thou eyes of flesh? Dost thou see as man sees?


Look at the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds, which are higher than you.


Thou knowest when I sit down and when I rise up; thou discernest my thoughts from afar.


O let the evil of the wicked come to an end, but establish thou the righteous, thou who triest the minds and hearts, thou righteous God.


Sheol and Abaddon lie open before the Lord how much more the hearts of men!


All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the spirit.


If you say, “Behold, we did not know this,” does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who keeps watch over your soul know it, and will he not requite man according to his work?


Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.


But, O Lord of hosts, who judgest righteously, who tries the heart and the mind, let me see thy vengeance upon them, for to thee have I committed my cause.


“I the Lord search the mind and try the heart, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings.”


O Lord of hosts, who triest the righteous, who seest the heart and the mind, let me see thy vengeance upon them, for to thee have I committed my cause.


But he said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts; for what is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.


Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.”


You judge according to the flesh, I judge no one.


And they prayed and said, “Lord, who knowest the hearts of all men, show which one of these two thou hast chosen


For they say, “His letters are weighty and strong, but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech of no account.”


Look at what is before your eyes. If any one is confident that he is Christ's, let him remind himself that as he is Christ's, so are we.


And before him no creature is hidden, but all are open and laid bare to the eyes of him with whom we have to do.


Come to him, to that living stone, rejected by men but in God's sight chosen and precious;


but let it be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable jewel of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious.


and I will strike her children dead. And all the churches shall know that I am he who searches mind and heart, and I will give to each of you as your works deserve.


Talk no more so very proudly, let not arrogance come from your mouth; for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.


and he had a son whose name was Saul, a handsome young man. There was not a man among the people of Israel more handsome than he; from his shoulders upward he was taller than any of the people.
