Thy face make on thy servant shine; teach me thy statutes still.


Because that thou for evermore most blessed hast him made; And thou hast with thy countenance made him exceeding glad.


Sure each man walks in a vain show; they vex themselves in vain: He heaps up wealth, and doth not know to whom it shall pertain.


O why art thou cast down, my soul? why in me so dismay'd? Trust God, for I shall praise him yet, his count'nance is mine aid.


For neither got their sword the land, nor did their arm them save; But thy right hand, arm, countenance; for thou them favour gave.


Lord, bless and pity us, shine on us with thy face:


Turn us again, Lord God of hosts, and upon us vouchsafe To make thy countenance to shine, and so we shall be safe.
