He shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.


When the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the Lord, the priests in their vestments were stationed to praise the Lord with trumpets, and the Levites, the sons of Asaph, with cymbals, according to the directions of King David of Israel;


In the second year after their arrival at the house of God at Jerusalem, in the second month, Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and Jeshua son of Jozadak made a beginning, together with the rest of their people, the priests and the Levites and all who had come to Jerusalem from the captivity. They appointed the Levites, from twenty years old and upward, to have the oversight of the work on the house of the Lord.


A shoot shall come out from the stump of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots.


On that day the branch of the Lord shall be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the land shall be the pride and glory of the survivors of Israel.


For he grew up before him like a young plant, and like a root out of dry ground; he had no form or majesty that we should look at him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.


The days are surely coming, says the Lord, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land.


In those days and at that time I will cause a righteous Branch to spring up for David; and he shall execute justice and righteousness in the land.


They shall live in the land that I gave to my servant Jacob, in which your ancestors lived; they and their children and their children's children shall live there forever; and my servant David shall be their prince forever.

and he shall be the one of peace. If the Assyrians come into our land and tread upon our soil, we will raise against them seven shepherds and eight installed as rulers.


“Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, against the man who is my associate,” says the Lord of hosts. Strike the shepherd, that the sheep may be scattered; I will turn my hand against the little ones.


Now listen, Joshua, high priest, you and your colleagues who sit before you! For they are an omen of things to come: I am going to bring my servant the Branch.


Thus says the Lord of hosts: Let your hands be strong—you that have recently been hearing these words from the mouths of the prophets who were present when the foundation was laid for the rebuilding of the temple, the house of the Lord of hosts.


And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it.


and said, “This fellow said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God and to build it in three days.’ ”


“We heard him say, ‘I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and in three days I will build another, not made with hands.’ ”


Those who passed by derided him, shaking their heads and saying, “Aha! You who would destroy the temple and build it in three days,


Now when the centurion, who stood facing him, saw that in this way he breathed his last, he said, “Truly this man was God's Son!”


By the tender mercy of our God, the dawn from on high will break upon us,


Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found him about whom Moses in the law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus son of Joseph from Nazareth.”


So Jesus came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe. Pilate said to them, “Here is the man!”


Let it be known to you therefore, my brothers, that through this man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you;


because he has fixed a day on which he will have the world judged in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed, and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead.”


For we are God's servants, working together; you are God's field, God's building.


But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, “he sat down at the right hand of God,”


but he holds his priesthood permanently, because he continues forever.


See how great he is! Even Abraham the patriarch gave him a tenth of the spoils.


For every high priest is appointed to offer gifts and sacrifices; hence it is necessary for this priest also to have something to offer.
