He shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.


I will be a father to him, and he shall be a son to me. When he commits iniquity, I will punish him with a rod such as mortals use, with blows inflicted by human beings.


But I will not take my steadfast love from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away from before you.


I will not, however, tear away the entire kingdom; I will give one tribe to your son, for the sake of my servant David and for the sake of Jerusalem, which I have chosen.”


One tribe will remain his, for the sake of my servant David and for the sake of Jerusalem, the city that I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel.


Yet to his son I will give one tribe, so that my servant David may always have a lamp before me in Jerusalem, the city where I have chosen to put my name.


You have renounced the covenant with your servant; you have defiled his crown in the dust.


For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.


so that through two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible that God would prove false, we who have taken refuge might be strongly encouraged to seize the hope set before us.


Moreover the Glory of Israel will not recant or change his mind; for he is not a mortal, that he should change his mind.”
