Thus says the king: ‘Do not let Hezekiah deceive you, for he will not be able to deliver you out of my hand.


In arrogance the wicked persecute the poor— let them be caught in the schemes they have devised.


They close their hearts to pity; with their mouths they speak arrogantly.


And you magnified yourselves against me with your mouth, and multiplied your words against me; I heard it.


They turn to that which does not profit; they have become like a defective bow; their officials shall fall by the sword because of the rage of their tongue. So much for their babbling in the land of Egypt.


—especially those who indulge their flesh in depraved lust, and who despise authority. Bold and willful, they are not afraid to slander the glorious ones,


For they speak bombastic nonsense, and with licentious desires of the flesh they entice people who have just escaped from those who live in error.


These are grumblers and malcontents; they indulge their own lusts; they are bombastic in speech, flattering people to their own advantage.
