Shimei shouted while he cursed, “Out! Out! Murderer! Scoundrel!


Now there was a famine in the days of David for three years, year after year; and David inquired of the Lord. The Lord said, “There is bloodguilt on Saul and on his house, because he put the Gibeonites to death.”


O that you would kill the wicked, O God, and that the bloodthirsty would depart from me—


Deliver me from bloodshed, O God, O God of my salvation, and my tongue will sing aloud of your deliverance.


But you, O God, will cast them down into the lowest pit; the bloodthirsty and treacherous shall not live out half their days. But I will trust in you.


Then once more you shall see the difference between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve him.


He will cut him in pieces and put him with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.


All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats,


Then they also will answer, ‘Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not take care of you?’


And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”


If anyone should rise up to pursue you and to seek your life, the life of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of the living under the care of the Lord your God; but the lives of your enemies he shall sling out as from the hollow of a sling.
