And Jacob said, “O God of my father Abraham and God of my father Isaac, O Lord who said to me, ‘Return to your country and to your kindred, and I will do you good,’


But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and all the domestic animals that were with him in the ark. And God made a wind blow over the earth, and the waters subsided;


For some time, while Saul was king over us, it was you who led out Israel and brought it in. The Lord said to you: It is you who shall be shepherd of my people Israel, you who shall be ruler over Israel.”


And now, O Lord God, as for the word that you have spoken concerning your servant and concerning his house, confirm it forever; do as you have promised.


“Remember that my life is a breath; my eye will never again see good.


Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wonderful works.


For he remembered his holy promise, and Abraham, his servant.


Remember me, O Lord, when you show favor to your people; help me when you deliver them;


For their sake he remembered his covenant, and showed compassion according to the abundance of his steadfast love.


I rise before dawn and cry for help; I put my hope in your words.


Do not take the word of truth utterly out of my mouth, for my hope is in your ordinances.


Those who fear you shall see me and rejoice, because I have hoped in your word.


My soul languishes for your salvation; I hope in your word.


But I will hope continually, and will praise you yet more and more.


Upon your walls, O Jerusalem, I have posted sentinels; all day and all night they shall never be silent. You who remind the Lord, take no rest,


May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.


Therefore prepare your minds for action; discipline yourselves; set all your hope on the grace that Jesus Christ will bring you when he is revealed.


Through him you have come to trust in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are set on God.
