But Abram said to the king of Sodom, “I have sworn to the Lord, God Most High, maker of heaven and earth,


And Hezekiah prayed before the Lord, and said: “O Lord the God of Israel, who are enthroned above the cherubim, you are God, you alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; you have made heaven and earth.


And now, our God, we give thanks to you and praise your glorious name.


Therefore mortals fear him; he does not regard any who are wise in their own conceit.”


Out of the mouths of babes and infants you have founded a bulwark because of your foes, to silence the enemy and the avenger.


Ah, you who are wise in your own eyes, and shrewd in your own sight!


Thus says the Lord: Heaven is my throne and the earth is my footstool; what is the house that you would build for me, and what is my resting place?


To you, O God of my ancestors, I give thanks and praise, for you have given me wisdom and power, and have now revealed to me what we asked of you, for you have revealed to us what the king ordered.”

The God who made the world and everything in it, he who is Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in shrines made by human hands,
