As he was setting out on a journey, a man ran up and knelt before him, and asked him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”


If anyone says to you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ just say this, ‘The Lord needs it and will send it back here immediately.’ ”


So he sent two of his disciples, saying to them, “Go into the city, and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you; follow him,


He will show you a large room upstairs, furnished and ready. Make preparations for us there.”


and say to the owner of the house, ‘The teacher asks you, “Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?” ’


When she had said this, she went back and called her sister Mary, and told her privately, “The Teacher is here and is calling for you.”


You call me Teacher and Lord—and you are right, for that is what I am.


Listen! I am standing at the door, knocking; if you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to you and eat with you, and you with me.
