My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.


The crown of the wise is their wisdom, but folly is the garland of fools.


Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and will be repaid in full.


When your eyes light upon it, it is gone; for suddenly it takes wings to itself, flying like an eagle toward heaven.


Send out your bread upon the waters, for after many days you will get it back.


For I will not continually accuse, nor will I always be angry; for then the spirits would grow faint before me, even the souls that I have made.


Therefore, O king, may my counsel be acceptable to you: atone for your sins with righteousness, and your iniquities with mercy to the oppressed, so that your prosperity may be prolonged.”


Jesus said to him, “If you wish to be perfect, go, sell your possessions, and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.”


“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal;


“No one can serve two masters; for a slave will either hate the one and love the other, or be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.


So give for alms those things that are within; and see, everything will be clean for you.


Sell your possessions, and give alms. Make purses for yourselves that do not wear out, an unfailing treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.


And you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you, for you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”


If then you have not been faithful with the dishonest wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches?


No slave can serve two masters; for a slave will either hate the one and love the other, or be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.”


I have decided what to do so that, when I am dismissed as manager, people may welcome me into their homes.’


He said, ‘Cornelius, your prayer has been heard and your alms have been remembered before God.


He stared at him in terror and said, “What is it, Lord?” He answered, “Your prayers and your alms have ascended as a memorial before God.


For this slight momentary affliction is preparing us for an eternal weight of glory beyond all measure,


keep yourselves in the love of God; look forward to the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life.
