21 But Jael wife of Heber took a tent peg, and took a hammer in her hand, and went softly to him and drove the peg into his temple, until it went down into the ground—he was lying fast asleep from weariness—and he died.

Rise up, O Lord! Deliver me, O my God! For you strike all my enemies on the cheek; you break the teeth of the wicked.


For it is written, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the discernment of the discerning I will thwart.”


But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong;


Then he found a fresh jawbone of a donkey, reached down and took it, and with it he killed a thousand men.


Then Ehud reached with his left hand, took the sword from his right thigh, and thrust it into Eglon's belly;


After him came Shamgar son of Anath, who killed six hundred of the Philistines with an oxgoad. He too delivered Israel.


He said to her, “Stand at the entrance of the tent, and if anybody comes and asks you, ‘Is anyone here?’ say, ‘No.’ ”


Then, as Barak came in pursuit of Sisera, Jael went out to meet him, and said to him, “Come, and I will show you the man whom you are seeking.” So he went into her tent; and there was Sisera lying dead, with the tent peg in his temple.


And she said, “I will surely go with you; nevertheless, the road on which you are going will not lead to your glory, for the Lord will sell Sisera into the hand of a woman.” Then Deborah got up and went with Barak to Kedesh.


The Philistine said to David, “Am I a dog, that you come to me with sticks?” And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.
