There he made his home in a town called Nazareth, so that what had been spoken through the prophets might be fulfilled, “He will be called a Nazorean.”


Over his head they put the charge against him, which read, “This is Jesus, the King of the Jews.”


The inscription of the charge against him read, “The King of the Jews.”


They told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.”


There was also an inscription over him, “This is the King of the Jews.”


Nathanael replied, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!”


Then Pilate entered the headquarters again, summoned Jesus, and asked him, “Are you the King of the Jews?”


From then on Pilate tried to release him, but the Jews cried out, “If you release this man, you are no friend of the emperor. Everyone who claims to be a king sets himself against the emperor.”


Now it was the day of Preparation for the Passover; and it was about noon. He said to the Jews, “Here is your King!”


Then the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate, “Do not write, ‘The King of the Jews,’ but, ‘This man said, I am King of the Jews.’ ”


They kept coming up to him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” and striking him on the face.


“Indeed, I myself was convinced that I ought to do many things against the name of Jesus of Nazareth.


But Peter said, “I have no silver or gold, but what I have I give you; in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, stand up and walk.”
