Let them not trust in emptiness, deceiving themselves; for emptiness will be their recompense.


They utter lies to each other; with flattering lips and a double heart they speak.


I do not sit with the worthless, nor do I consort with hypocrites;


How long, you people, shall my honor suffer shame? How long will you love vain words, and seek after lies? Selah


Those who till their land will have plenty of food, but those who follow worthless pursuits have no sense.


Thus says the Lord: What wrong did your ancestors find in me that they went far from me, and went after worthless things, and became worthless themselves?


Therefore thus says the Lord God: Because you have uttered falsehood and envisioned lies, I am against you, says the Lord God.


If someone were to go about uttering empty falsehoods, saying, “I will preach to you of wine and strong drink,” such a one would be the preacher for this people!


“The Lord, God of gods! The Lord, God of gods! He knows; and let Israel itself know! If it was in rebellion or in breach of faith toward the Lord, do not spare us today
