Do not let them say to themselves, “Aha, we have our heart's desire.” Do not let them say, “We have swallowed you up.”


Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer.


I am the subject of gossip for those who sit in the gate, and the drunkards make songs about me.


Why should the nations say, “Where is their God?” Let the avenging of the outpoured blood of your servants be known among the nations before our eyes.


We have become a taunt to our neighbors, mocked and derided by those around us.


like Sheol let us swallow them alive and whole, like those who go down to the Pit.


making their land a horror, a thing to be hissed at forever. All who pass by it are horrified and shake their heads.


The lions have roared against him, they have roared loudly. They have made his land a waste; his cities are in ruins, without inhabitant.

For the land shall be deserted by them, and enjoy its sabbath years by lying desolate without them, while they shall make amends for their iniquity, because they dared to spurn my ordinances, and they abhorred my statutes.


You should not have entered the gate of my people on the day of their calamity; you should not have joined in the gloating over Judah's disaster on the day of his calamity; you should not have looted his goods on the day of his calamity.


when slandered, we speak kindly. We have become like the rubbish of the world, the dregs of all things, to this very day.


You shall become an object of horror, a proverb, and a byword among all the peoples where the Lord will lead you.
