The Lord said to Moses, “Go down at once! Your people, whom you brought up out of the land of Egypt, have acted perversely;


But now, all you exiles whom I sent away from Jerusalem to Babylon, hear the word of the Lord:


The descendants are impudent and stubborn. I am sending you to them, and you shall say to them, “Thus says the Lord God.”


Whether they hear or refuse to hear (for they are a rebellious house), they shall know that there has been a prophet among them.


You shall speak my words to them, whether they hear or refuse to hear; for they are a rebellious house.


Therefore, mortal, speak to the house of Israel and say to them, Thus says the Lord God: In this again your ancestors blasphemed me, by dealing treacherously with me.


He said to me: Mortal, all my words that I shall speak to you receive in your heart and hear with your ears;


Then the spirit lifted me up, and as the glory of the Lord rose from its place, I heard behind me the sound of loud rumbling;


I came to the exiles at Tel-abib, who lived by the river Chebar. And I sat there among them, stunned, for seven days.


But when I speak with you, I will open your mouth, and you shall say to them, “Thus says the Lord God”; let those who will hear, hear; and let those who refuse to hear, refuse; for they are a rebellious house.


And you, mortal, say to your people, The righteousness of the righteous shall not save them when they transgress; and as for the wickedness of the wicked, it shall not make them stumble when they turn from their wickedness; and the righteous shall not be able to live by their righteousness when they sin.


Yet your people say, “The way of the Lord is not just,” when it is their own way that is not just.


O Mortal, speak to your people and say to them, If I bring the sword upon a land, and the people of the land take one of their number as their sentinel;


As for you, mortal, your people who talk together about you by the walls, and at the doors of the houses, say to one another, each to a neighbor, “Come and hear what the word is that comes from the Lord.”


And when your people say to you, “Will you not show us what you mean by these?”


“At that time Michael, the great prince, the protector of your people, shall arise. There shall be a time of anguish, such as has never occurred since nations first came into existence. But at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone who is found written in the book.


Then they responded to the king, “Daniel, one of the exiles from Judah, pays no attention to you, O king, or to the interdict you have signed, but he is saying his prayers three times a day.”


Then the Lord said to me, “Get up, go down quickly from here, for your people whom you have brought from Egypt have acted corruptly. They have been quick to turn from the way that I commanded them; they have cast an image for themselves.”
