The Israelites had done as Moses told them; they had asked the Egyptians for jewelry of silver and gold, and for clothing,


and the Lord had given the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they let them have what they asked. And so they plundered the Egyptians.


When the ways of people please the Lord, he causes even their enemies to be at peace with them.


and rescued him from all his afflictions, and enabled him to win favor and to show wisdom when he stood before Pharaoh, king of Egypt, who appointed him ruler over Egypt and over all his household.


And when you send a male slave out from you a free person, you shall not send him out empty-handed.
