25 He cried out to the Lord; and the Lord showed him a piece of wood; he threw it into the water, and the water became sweet. There the Lord made for them a statute and an ordinance and there he put them to the test.

Then he went to the spring of water and threw the salt into it, and said, “Thus says the Lord, I have made this water wholesome; from now on neither death nor miscarriage shall come from it.”


He said, “Then bring some flour.” He threw it into the pot, and said, “Serve the people and let them eat.” And there was nothing harmful in the pot.


Then the man of God said, “Where did it fall?” When he showed him the place, he cut off a stick, and threw it in there, and made the iron float.


Call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.”


For you, O God, have tested us; you have tried us as silver is tried.


In distress you called, and I rescued you; I answered you in the secret place of thunder; I tested you at the waters of Meribah. Selah


When they call to me, I will answer them; I will be with them in trouble, I will rescue them and honor them.


Moses and Aaron were among his priests, Samuel also was among those who called on his name. They cried to the Lord, and he answered them.


As Pharaoh drew near, the Israelites looked back, and there were the Egyptians advancing on them. In great fear the Israelites cried out to the Lord.


Then the Lord said to Moses, “I am going to rain bread from heaven for you, and each day the people shall go out and gather enough for that day. In that way I will test them, whether they will follow my instruction or not.


So Moses cried out to the Lord, “What shall I do with this people? They are almost ready to stone me.”


Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid; for God has come only to test you and to put the fear of him upon you so that you do not sin.”


The crucible is for silver, and the furnace is for gold, but the Lord tests the heart.


Then the Lord said to me: Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my heart would not turn toward this people. Send them out of my sight, and let them go!


Therefore thus says the Lord of hosts: I will now refine and test them, for what else can I do with my sinful people?

Remember the long way that the Lord your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, in order to humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commandments.

Now these are the nations that the Lord left to test all those in Israel who had no experience of any war in Canaan


They were for the testing of Israel, to know whether Israel would obey the commandments of the Lord, which he commanded their ancestors by Moses.
