Before I was humbled I went astray, but now I keep your word.


It is good for me that I was humbled, so that I might learn your statutes.


I said of laughter, “It is mad,” and of pleasure, “What use is it?”


The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning; but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth.


He said, “Do not fear, greatly beloved, you are safe. Be strong and courageous!” When he spoke to me, I was strengthened and said, “Let my lord speak, for you have strengthened me.”


Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you will be filled. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh.


Woe to you who are full now, for you will be hungry. Woe to you who are laughing now, for you will mourn and weep.


For this slight momentary affliction is preparing us for an eternal weight of glory beyond all measure,
