Joseph answered Pharaoh, “It is not I; God will give Pharaoh a favorable answer.”


And he said to humankind, ‘Truly, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.’ ”


The friendship of the Lord is for those who fear him, and he makes his covenant known to them.


It is the glory of God to conceal things, but the glory of kings is to search things out.


for the perverse are an abomination to the Lord, but the upright are in his confidence.


for teaching and for instruction?” Surely, those who speak like this will have no dawn!


For who has stood in the council of the Lord so as to see and to hear his word? Who has given heed to his word so as to proclaim it?


He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what is in the darkness, and light dwells with him.


“O Belteshazzar, chief of the magicians, I know that you are endowed with a spirit of the holy gods and that no mystery is too difficult for you. Hear the dream that I saw; tell me its interpretation.


Surely the Lord God does nothing, without revealing his secret to his servants the prophets.


He answered, “To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given.


This was to fulfill what had been spoken through the prophet: “I will open my mouth to speak in parables; I will proclaim what has been hidden from the foundation of the world.”


I do not call you servants any longer, because the servant does not know what the master is doing; but I have called you friends, because I have made known to you everything that I have heard from my Father.


But these are written so that you may come to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that through believing you may have life in his name.


Jesus said to him, “If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you? Follow me!”


“You search the scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that testify on my behalf.


He replied, “It is not for you to know the times or periods that the Father has set by his own authority.


These Jews were more receptive than those in Thessalonica, for they welcomed the message very eagerly and examined the scriptures every day to see whether these things were so.


“For who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.


and return to the Lord your God, and you and your children obey him with all your heart and with all your soul, just as I am commanding you today,


Recite them to your children and talk about them when you are at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when you rise.


I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that lived first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, lives in you.


All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
