The word of the Lord came to Jehu son of Hanani against Baasha, saying,


Thus Zimri destroyed all the house of Baasha, according to the word of the Lord, which he spoke against Baasha by the prophet Jehu—


Moreover the word of the Lord came by the prophet Jehu son of Hanani against Baasha and his house, both because of all the evil that he did in the sight of the Lord, provoking him to anger with the work of his hands, in being like the house of Jeroboam, and also because he destroyed it.


(Indeed, there was no one like Ahab, who sold himself to do what was evil in the sight of the Lord, urged on by his wife Jezebel.


Jehoshaphat also made peace with the king of Israel.


At that time the seer Hanani came to King Asa of Judah, and said to him, “Because you relied on the king of Aram, and did not rely on the Lord your God, the army of the king of Aram has escaped you.


Now Jehoshaphat had great riches and honor; and he made a marriage alliance with Ahab.


So the king of Israel and King Jehoshaphat of Judah went up to Ramoth-gilead.


King Ahab of Israel said to King Jehoshaphat of Judah, “Will you go with me to Ramoth-gilead?” He answered him, “I am with you, my people are your people. We will be with you in the war.”


The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “There is still one other by whom we may inquire of the Lord, Micaiah son of Imlah; but I hate him, for he never prophesies anything favorable about me, but only disaster.” Jehoshaphat said, “Let the king not say such a thing.”


King Jehoshaphat of Judah returned in safety to his house in Jerusalem.


whenever a case comes to you from your kindred who live in their cities, concerning bloodshed, law or commandment, statutes or ordinances, then you shall instruct them, so that they may not incur guilt before the Lord and wrath may not come on you and your kindred. Do so, and you will not incur guilt.


Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, from first to last, are written in the Annals of Jehu son of Hanani, which are recorded in the Book of the Kings of Israel.


They abandoned the house of the Lord, the God of their ancestors, and served the sacred poles and the idols. And wrath came upon Judah and Jerusalem for this guilt of theirs.


they withstood King Uzziah, and said to him, “It is not for you, Uzziah, to make offering to the Lord, but for the priests the descendants of Aaron, who are consecrated to make offering. Go out of the sanctuary; for you have done wrong, and it will bring you no honor from the Lord God.”


But Hezekiah did not respond according to the benefit done to him, for his heart was proud. Therefore wrath came upon him and upon Judah and Jerusalem.


in whose eyes the wicked are despised, but who honor those who fear the Lord; who stand by their oath even to their hurt;


Your hand will find out all your enemies; your right hand will find out those who hate you.


Let God rise up, let his enemies be scattered; let those who hate him flee before him.


My mouth will tell of your righteous acts, of your deeds of salvation all day long, though their number is past my knowledge.


You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, punishing children for the iniquity of parents, to the third and the fourth generation of those who reject me,


Then Amos answered Amaziah, “I am no prophet, nor a prophet's son; but I am a herdsman, and a dresser of sycamore trees,


“If the world hates you, be aware that it hated me before it hated you.


Whoever hates me hates my Father also.


For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and wickedness of those who by their wickedness suppress the truth.


slanderers, God-haters, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, rebellious toward parents,


They know God's decree, that those who practice such things deserve to die—yet they not only do them but even applaud others who practice them.


For this reason the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God's law—indeed it cannot,


Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.


when I whet my flashing sword, and my hand takes hold on judgment; I will take vengeance on my adversaries, and will repay those who hate me.


Bless, O Lord, his substance, and accept the work of his hands; crush the loins of his adversaries, of those that hate him, so that they do not rise again.


You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, punishing children for the iniquity of parents, to the third and fourth generation of those who reject me,


and who repays in their own person those who reject him. He does not delay but repays in their own person those who reject him.


Adulterers! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.


(Formerly in Israel, anyone who went to inquire of God would say, “Come, let us go to the seer”; for the one who is now called a prophet was formerly called a seer.)
