2 Chronicles 19:10 - New Revised Standard Version

10 whenever a case comes to you from your kindred who live in their cities, concerning bloodshed, law or commandment, statutes or ordinances, then you shall instruct them, so that they may not incur guilt before the Lord and wrath may not come on you and your kindred. Do so, and you will not incur guilt.

Jehu son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him and said to King Jehoshaphat, “Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the Lord? Because of this, wrath has gone out against you from the Lord.


He charged them: “This is how you shall act: in the fear of the Lord, in faithfulness, and with your whole heart;


When they have a dispute, they come to me and I decide between one person and another, and I make known to them the statutes and instructions of God.”


Mortal, I have made you a sentinel for the house of Israel; whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you shall give them warning from me.


But if the sentinel sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, so that the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any of them, they are taken away in their iniquity, but their blood I will require at the sentinel's hand.


Moses said to Aaron, “Take your censer, put fire on it from the altar and lay incense on it, and carry it quickly to the congregation and make atonement for them. For wrath has gone out from the Lord; the plague has begun.”


Moses did so; just as the Lord commanded him, so he did.


Therefore be alert, remembering that for three years I did not cease night or day to warn everyone with tears.


Then the priests, the sons of Levi, shall come forward, for the Lord your God has chosen them to minister to him and to pronounce blessings in the name of the Lord, and by their decision all cases of dispute and assault shall be settled.


And we urge you, beloved, to admonish the idlers, encourage the faint hearted, help the weak, be patient with all of them.
