The king stood by the pillar and made a covenant before the Lord, to follow the Lord, keeping his commandments, his decrees, and his statutes, with all his heart and all his soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. All the people joined in the covenant.


Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.


Those who had set their hearts to seek the Lord God of Israel came after them from all the tribes of Israel to Jerusalem to sacrifice to the Lord, the God of their ancestors.


He built fortified cities in Judah while the land had rest. He had no war in those years, for the Lord gave him peace.


He said to Judah, “Let us build these cities, and surround them with walls and towers, gates and bars; the land is still ours because we have sought the Lord our God; we have sought him, and he has given us peace on every side.” So they built and prospered.


They entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their ancestors, with all their heart and with all their soul.


They took an oath to the Lord with a loud voice, and with shouting, and with trumpets, and with horns.


He went out to meet Asa and said to him, “Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin: The Lord is with you, while you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you abandon him, he will abandon you.


but when in their distress they turned to the Lord, the God of Israel, and sought him, he was found by them.


They were broken in pieces, nation against nation and city against city, for God troubled them with every sort of distress.


Nevertheless, some good is found in you, for you destroyed the sacred poles out of the land, and have set your heart to seek God.”


And the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet, for his God gave him rest all around.


Now it is in my heart to make a covenant with the Lord, the God of Israel, so that his fierce anger may turn away from us.


And Hezekiah and all the people rejoiced because of what God had done for the people; for the thing had come about suddenly.

Your decrees are my heritage forever; they are the joy of my heart.


Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, O righteous, and shout for joy, all you upright in heart.


Moses came and told the people all the words of the Lord and all the ordinances; and all the people answered with one voice, and said, “All the words that the Lord has spoken we will do.”


Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.


In the path of your judgments, O Lord, we wait for you; your name and your renown are the soul's desire.


I did not speak in secret, in a land of darkness; I did not say to the offspring of Jacob, “Seek me in chaos.” I the Lord speak the truth, I declare what is right.


Indeed, this is our boast, the testimony of our conscience: we have behaved in the world with frankness and godly sincerity, not by earthly wisdom but by the grace of God—and all the more toward you.

I am hard pressed between the two: my desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better;


A long time afterward, when the Lord had given rest to Israel from all their enemies all around, and Joshua was old and well advanced in years,


So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day, and made statutes and ordinances for them at Shechem.
