Many years you were patient with them, and warned them by your spirit through your prophets; yet they would not listen. Therefore you handed them over to the peoples of the lands.


And Moses said, “When the Lord gives you meat to eat in the evening and your fill of bread in the morning, because the Lord has heard the complaining that you utter against him—what are we? Your complaining is not against us but against the Lord.”


The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.


Do not speak in the hearing of a fool, who will only despise the wisdom of your words.


Thus says the Lord, the Redeemer of Israel and his Holy One, to one deeply despised, abhorred by the nations, the slave of rulers, “Kings shall see and stand up, princes, and they shall prostrate themselves, because of the Lord, who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.”


Yet it was the will of the Lord to crush him with pain. When you make his life an offering for sin, he shall see his offspring, and shall prolong his days; through him the will of the Lord shall prosper.


“Whoever listens to you listens to me, and whoever rejects you rejects me, and whoever rejects me rejects the one who sent me.”


The one who rejects me and does not receive my word has a judge; on the last day the word that I have spoken will serve as judge,


‘Look, you scoffers! Be amazed and perish, for in your days I am doing a work, a work that you will never believe, even if someone tells you.’ ”


and hope does not disappoint us, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.


these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God.


But in my judgment she is more blessed if she remains as she is. And I think that I too have the Spirit of God.


by putting his seal on us and giving us his Spirit in our hearts as a first installment.


And because you are children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!”


It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in regard to the things that have now been announced to you through those who brought you good news by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven—things into which angels long to look!


because no prophecy ever came by human will, but men and women moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.


All who obey his commandments abide in him, and he abides in them. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit that he has given us.


Yet in the same way these dreamers also defile the flesh, reject authority, and slander the glorious ones.


But today you have rejected your God, who saves you from all your calamities and your distresses; and you have said, ‘No! but set a king over us.’ Now therefore present yourselves before the Lord by your tribes and by your clans.”


and the Lord said to Samuel, “Listen to the voice of the people in all that they say to you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected me from being king over them.
