The king rose from the feast in wrath and went into the palace garden, but Haman stayed to beg his life from Queen Esther, for he saw that the king had determined to destroy him.


The plan seemed good to me, and I selected twelve of you, one from each tribe.


But Saul threw his spear at him to strike him; so Jonathan knew that it was the decision of his father to put David to death.


Jonathan said, “Far be it from you! If I knew that it was decided by my father that evil should come upon you, would I not tell you?”


Now therefore know this and consider what you should do; for evil has been decided against our master and against all his house; he is so ill-natured that no one can speak to him.”
