By you I can crush a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall.


What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us?


The Lord will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before you; they shall come out against you one way, and flee before you seven ways.


How could one have routed a thousand, and two put a myriad to flight, unless their Rock had sold them, the Lord had given them up?


quenched raging fire, escaped the edge of the sword, won strength out of weakness, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight.


One of you puts to flight a thousand, since it is the Lord your God who fights for you, as he promised you.


Immediately he called to the young man who carried his armor and said to him, “Draw your sword and kill me, so people will not say about me, ‘A woman killed him.’ ” So the young man thrust him through, and he died.


The men of the garrison hailed Jonathan and his armor-bearer, saying, “Come up to us, and we will show you something.” Jonathan said to his armor-bearer, “Come up after me; for the Lord has given them into the hand of Israel.”


In that first slaughter Jonathan and his armor-bearer killed about twenty men within an area about half a furrow long in an acre of land.
