1 Peter 5:12 - New Revised Standard Version

12 Through Silvanus, whom I consider a faithful brother, I have written this short letter to encourage you and to testify that this is the true grace of God. Stand fast in it.

When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, “Lord, what about him?”


When he came and saw the grace of God, he rejoiced, and he exhorted them all to remain faithful to the Lord with steadfast devotion;


Then the apostles and the elders, with the consent of the whole church, decided to choose men from among their members and to send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas. They sent Judas called Barsabbas, and Silas, leaders among the brothers,


But I do not count my life of any value to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the good news of God's grace.


through whom we have obtained access to this grace in which we stand; and we boast in our hope of sharing the glory of God.


Now I would remind you, brothers and sisters, of the good news that I proclaimed to you, which you in turn received, in which also you stand,


For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, whom we proclaimed among you, Silvanus and Timothy and I, was not “Yes and No”; but in him it is always “Yes.”


I do not mean to imply that we lord it over your faith; rather, we are workers with you for your joy, because you stand firm in the faith.


and how the mystery was made known to me by revelation, as I wrote above in a few words,


So that you also may know how I am and what I am doing, Tychicus will tell you everything. He is a dear brother and a faithful minister in the Lord.


This you learned from Epaphras, our beloved fellow servant. He is a faithful minister of Christ on your behalf,


Tychicus will tell you all the news about me; he is a beloved brother, a faithful minister, and a fellow servant in the Lord.

I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, bear with my word of exhortation, for I have written to you briefly.


Therefore prepare your minds for action; discipline yourselves; set all your hope on the grace that Jesus Christ will bring you when he is revealed.


Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received.


Therefore I intend to keep on reminding you of these things, though you know them already and are established in the truth that has come to you.


They have left the straight road and have gone astray, following the road of Balaam son of Bosor, who loved the wages of doing wrong,


Everyone has testified favorably about Demetrius, and so has the truth itself. We also testify for him, and you know that our testimony is true.


Beloved, while eagerly preparing to write to you about the salvation we share, I find it necessary to write and appeal to you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints.
