And going a little farther, he threw himself on the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me; yet not what I want but what you want.”


Again he went away for the second time and prayed, “My Father, if this cannot pass unless I drink it, your will be done.”


but on taking leave of them, he said, “I will return to you, if God wills.” Then he set sail from Ephesus.


Since he would not be persuaded, we remained silent except to say, “The Lord's will be done.”


In this you rejoice, even if now for a little while you have had to suffer various trials,


For it is God's will that by doing right you should silence the ignorance of the foolish.


If you endure when you are beaten for doing wrong, what credit is that? But if you endure when you do right and suffer for it, you have God's approval.


But even if you do suffer for doing what is right, you are blessed. Do not fear what they fear, and do not be intimidated,


But let none of you suffer as a murderer, a thief, a criminal, or even as a mischief maker.


Therefore, let those suffering in accordance with God's will entrust themselves to a faithful Creator, while continuing to do good.
