But the hand of the Lord was on Elijah; he girded up his loins and ran in front of Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.


He said to Gehazi, “Gird up your loins, and take my staff in your hand, and go. If you meet anyone, give no greeting, and if anyone greets you, do not answer; and lay my staff on the face of the child.”


Gird up your loins like a man, I will question you, and you shall declare to me.


“Gird up your loins like a man; I will question you, and you declare to me.


This is how you shall eat it: your loins girded, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and you shall eat it hurriedly. It is the passover of the Lord.


Righteousness shall be the belt around his waist, and faithfulness the belt around his loins.


But you, gird up your loins; stand up and tell them everything that I command you. Do not break down before them, or I will break you before them.


and he said to them, ‘You also go into the vineyard, and I will pay you whatever is right.’ So they went.

let us live honorably as in the day, not in reveling and drunkenness, not in debauchery and licentiousness, not in quarreling and jealousy.


For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the children of God;


so that you are not lacking in any spiritual gift as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ.


And now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; and the greatest of these is love.


Stand therefore, and fasten the belt of truth around your waist, and put on the breastplate of righteousness.


When Christ who is your life is revealed, then you also will be revealed with him in glory.


and to give relief to the afflicted as well as to us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels


As for you, always be sober, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, carry out your ministry fully.


From now on there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have longed for his appearing.


Do not, therefore, abandon that confidence of yours; it brings a great reward.


Christ, however, was faithful over God's house as a son, and we are his house if we hold firm the confidence and the pride that belong to hope.


We have this hope, a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters the inner shrine behind the curtain,


so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin, but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.


Concerning this salvation, the prophets who prophesied of the grace that was to be yours made careful search and inquiry,


but in your hearts sanctify Christ as Lord. Always be ready to make your defense to anyone who demands from you an accounting for the hope that is in you;


The end of all things is near; therefore be serious and discipline yourselves for the sake of your prayers.


Through Silvanus, whom I consider a faithful brother, I have written this short letter to encourage you and to testify that this is the true grace of God. Stand fast in it.


Discipline yourselves, keep alert. Like a roaring lion your adversary the devil prowls around, looking for someone to devour.


And all who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.
