Then he said to Gehazi, Gird up thy loins, and take my staff in thine hand, and go thy way: if thou meet any man, salute him not; and if any salute thee, answer him not again: and lay my staff upon the face of the child.


Gird up now thy loins like a man; For I will demand of thee, and answer thou me.


Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.


And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD's passover.


And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.


Thou therefore gird up thy loins, and arise, and speak unto them all that I command thee: be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound thee before them.

Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.


but Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.


which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;


so Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.


Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:


but sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:


But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.


By Silvanus, a faithful brother unto you, as I suppose, I have written briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God wherein ye stand.


Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:


And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
