You will arise and have compassion on Zion, for it is time to show favour to her; the appointed time has come.


‘Because the poor are plundered and the needy groan, I will now arise,’ says the Lord. ‘I will protect them from those who malign them.’


Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession.


for dominion belongs to the Lord and he rules over the nations.


Rise up and help us; rescue us because of your unfailing love.


Arise, Lord, in your anger; rise up against the rage of my enemies. Awake, my God; decree justice.


Surely your wrath against mankind brings you praise, and the survivors of your wrath are restrained.


Rise up, Judge of the earth; pay back to the proud what they deserve.


Let all creation rejoice before the Lord, for he comes, he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples in his faithfulness.


Awake, awake, arm of the Lord, clothe yourself with strength! Awake, as in days gone by, as in generations of old. Was it not you who cut Rahab to pieces, who pierced that monster through?


The faithful have been swept from the land; not one upright person remains. Everyone lies in wait to shed blood; they hunt each other with nets.


But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Saviour; my God will hear me.


Therefore wait for me,’ declares the Lord, ‘for the day I will stand up to testify. I have decided to assemble the nations, to gather the kingdoms and to pour out my wrath on them – all my fierce anger. The whole world will be consumed by the fire of my jealous anger.


The seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, which said: ‘The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah, and he will reign for ever and ever.’
