You will break them with a rod of iron; you will dash them to pieces like pottery.’


But for those who fear you, you have raised a banner to be unfurled against the bow.


You answer us with awesome and righteous deeds, God our Saviour, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas,


Righteousness will be his belt and faithfulness the sash round his waist.


Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.


Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.


But those enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them – bring them here and kill them in front of me.” ’


For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
