While he was still speaking, another messenger came and said, ‘The fire of God fell from the heavens and burned up the sheep and the servants, and I am the only one who has escaped to tell you!’


Praise the Lord, my soul. Lord my God, you are very great; you are clothed with splendour and majesty.


so that all people may know of your mighty acts and the glorious splendour of your kingdom.


They speak of the glorious splendour of your majesty – and I will meditate on your wonderful works.


Through the victories you gave, his glory is great; you have bestowed on him splendour and majesty.


For the king trusts in the Lord; through the unfailing love of the Most High he will not be shaken.


Splendour and majesty are before him; strength and glory are in his sanctuary.


Like an apple tree among the trees of the forest is my beloved among the young men. I delight to sit in his shade, and his fruit is sweet to my taste.

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.


Now the main point of what we are saying is this: we do have such a high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven,


to the only God our Saviour be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and for evermore! Amen.
