Love the Lord, all his faithful people! The Lord preserves those who are true to him, but the proud he pays back in full.


The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry;


My mouth will speak words of wisdom; the meditation of my heart will give you understanding.


‘Gather to me this consecrated people, who made a covenant with me by sacrifice.’


Then my enemies will turn back when I call for help. By this I will know that God is for me.


Away from me, all you who do evil, for the Lord has heard my weeping.


Do not trust in extortion or put vain hope in stolen goods; though your riches increase, do not set your heart on them.


How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?’


You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit – fruit that will last – and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.


For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.


Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: ‘The Lord knows those who are his,’ and, ‘Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.’


who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.


But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.


if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment.
