and saw the third generation of Ephraim’s children. Also the children of Makir son of Manasseh were placed at birth on Joseph’s knees.


They went to Gilead and the region of Tahtim Hodshi, and on to Dan Jaan and around towards Sidon.


The descendants of Manasseh: through Makir, the Makirite clan (Makir was the father of Gilead); through Gilead, the Gileadite clan.


This was the land allotted to the tribe of Manasseh as Joseph’s firstborn. Makir, Manasseh’s firstborn, the ancestor of the Gileadites, had received Gilead and Bashan because the Makirites were great soldiers.
