Esau’s son Eliphaz also had a concubine named Timna, who bore him Amalek. These were grandsons of Esau’s wife Adah.


They killed the remaining Amalekites who had escaped, and they have lived there to this day.


After these events, King Xerxes honoured Haman son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, elevating him and giving him a seat of honour higher than that of all the other nobles.


So the king commanded that this be done. An edict was issued in Susa, and they impaled the ten sons of Haman.


Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘Write this on a scroll as something to be remembered and make sure that Joshua hears it, because I will completely blot out the name of Amalek from under heaven.’


He said, ‘Because hands were lifted up against the throne of the Lord, the Lord will be at war against the Amalekites from generation to generation.’


The Amalekites came and attacked the Israelites at Rephidim.


A ruler will come out of Jacob and destroy the survivors of the city.’


Ships will come from the shores of Cyprus; they will subdue Ashur and Eber, but they too will come to ruin.’


Water will flow from their buckets; their seed will have abundant water. ‘Their king will be greater than Agag; their kingdom will be exalted.
