23 There is no divination against Jacob, no evil omens against Israel. It will now be said of Jacob and of Israel, “See what God has done!”

And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.’


How abundant are the good things that you have stored up for those who fear you, that you bestow in the sight of all, on those who take refuge in you.


All people will fear; they will proclaim the works of God and ponder what he has done.


Who has done this and carried it through, calling forth the generations from the beginning? I, the Lord – with the first of them and with the last – I am he.’


who foils the signs of false prophets and makes fools of diviners, who overthrows the learning of the wise and turns it into nonsense,


For the king of Babylon will stop at the fork in the road, at the junction of the two roads, to seek an omen: he will cast lots with arrows, he will consult his idols, he will examine the liver.


‘Now, Lord our God, who brought your people out of Egypt with a mighty hand and who made for yourself a name that endures to this day, we have sinned, we have done wrong.
