17 I will come down and speak with you there, and I will take some of the power of the Spirit that is on you and put it on them. They will share the burden of the people with you so that you will not have to carry it alone.

But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower the people were building.


When he had finished speaking with Abraham, God went up from him.


Abram fell face down, and God said to him,


When the Lord had finished speaking with Abraham, he left, and Abraham returned home.


The company of the prophets from Jericho, who were watching, said, ‘The spirit of Elijah is resting on Elisha.’ And they went to meet him and bowed to the ground before him.


When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha, ‘Tell me, what can I do for you before I am taken from you?’ ‘Let me inherit a double portion of your spirit,’ Elisha replied.


You gave your good Spirit to instruct them. You did not withhold your manna from their mouths, and you gave them water for their thirst.


You and these people who come to you will only wear yourselves out. The work is too heavy for you; you cannot handle it alone.


Let them serve as judges for the people at all times, but let them bring every difficult case to you; the simple cases they can decide themselves. That will make your load lighter, because they will share it with you.


and be ready by the third day, because on that day the Lord will come down on Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people.


The Lord descended to the top of Mount Sinai and called Moses to the top of the mountain. So Moses went up


Then the Lord came down in the cloud and stood there with him and proclaimed his name, the Lord.


For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.

Then the Lord came down in the cloud and spoke with him, and he took some of the power of the Spirit that was on him and put it on the seventy elders. When the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied – but did not do so again.


Then the Lord came down in a pillar of cloud; he stood at the entrance to the tent and summoned Aaron and Miriam. When the two of them stepped forward,


With him I speak face to face, clearly and not in riddles; he sees the form of the Lord. Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?’


So the Lord said to Moses, ‘Take Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit of leadership, and lay your hand on him.


When Moses entered the tent of meeting to speak with the Lord, he heard the voice speaking to him from between the two cherubim above the atonement cover on the ark of the covenant law. In this way the Lord spoke to him.


No-one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven – the Son of Man.


By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.


You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ.


What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us.


Therefore, anyone who rejects this instruction does not reject a human being but God, the very God who gives you his Holy Spirit.


Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart.


These are the people who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.


The Spirit of the Lord will come powerfully upon you, and you will prophesy with them; and you will be changed into a different person.
