That day Isaac’s servants came and told him about the well they had dug. They said, ‘We’ve found water!’


At Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon during the night in a dream, and God said, ‘Ask for whatever you want me to give you.’


You, Lord, hear the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry,


In his pride the wicked man does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God.


Praise be to you, Lord; teach me your decrees.


My heart says of you, ‘Seek his face!’ Your face, Lord, I will seek.


I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.


Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.


and call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honour me.’


The poor will see and be glad – you who seek God, may your hearts live!


But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; may those who long for your saving help always say, ‘The Lord is great!’

Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.


You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit – fruit that will last – and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.


If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.


Jesus answered her, ‘If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.’


To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honour and immortality, he will give eternal life.


there is no-one who understands; there is no-one who seeks God.


And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.


And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.


and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him.
