Make vows to the Lord your God and fulfil them; let all the neighbouring lands bring gifts to the One to be feared.


You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.


‘ “Do not swear falsely by my name and so profane the name of your God. I am the Lord.


Look, there on the mountains, the feet of one who brings good news, who proclaims peace! Celebrate your festivals, Judah, and fulfil your vows. No more will the wicked invade you; they will be completely destroyed.


‘You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, “You shall not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.”


‘You have heard that it was said, “You shall not commit adultery.”


If you make a vow to the Lord your God, do not be slow to pay it, for the Lord your God will certainly demand it of you and you will be guilty of sin.
