He put garrisons in the Aramean kingdom of Damascus, and the Arameans became subject to him and brought tribute. The Lord gave David victory wherever he went.


When the queen of Sheba heard about the fame of Solomon and his relationship to the Lord, she came to test Solomon with hard questions.


He was wiser than anyone else, including Ethan the Ezrahite – wiser than Heman, Kalkol and Darda, the sons of Mahol. And his fame spread to all the surrounding nations.


So David’s fame spread throughout every land, and the Lord made all the nations fear him.


With all my resources I have provided for the temple of my God – gold for the gold work, silver for the silver, bronze for the bronze, iron for the iron and wood for the wood, as well as onyx for the settings, turquoise, stones of various colours, and all kinds of fine stone and marble – all of these in large quantities.


He said, ‘If you listen carefully to the Lord your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals you.’


Then they brought him a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute, and Jesus healed him, so that he could both talk and see.


At that time Herod the tetrarch heard the reports about Jesus,


A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, ‘Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is demon-possessed and suffering terribly.’


‘Lord, have mercy on my son,’ he said. ‘He has seizures and is suffering greatly. He often falls into the fire or into the water.


Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of the boy, and he was healed at that moment.


Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and illness among the people.


When he arrived at the other side in the region of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men coming from the tombs met him. They were so violent that no-one could pass that way.


Those tending the pigs ran off, went into the town and reported all this, including what had happened to the demon-possessed men.


‘Lord,’ he said, ‘my servant lies at home paralysed, suffering terribly.’


News of this spread through all that region.


Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and illness.


News about him spread quickly over the whole region of Galilee.


That evening after sunset the people brought to Jesus all who were ill and demon-possessed.


Some men came, bringing to him a paralysed man, carried by four of them.


Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on.


Which is easier: to say to this paralysed man, “Your sins are forgiven,” or to say, “Get up, take your mat and walk”?


(This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.)


Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside.


Jesus left the synagogue and went to the home of Simon. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever, and they asked Jesus to help her.


Yet the news about him spread all the more, so that crowds of people came to hear him and to be healed of their illnesses.


But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.’ So he said to the paralysed man, ‘I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.’


This news about Jesus spread throughout Judea and the surrounding country.


But others said, ‘These are not the sayings of a man possessed by a demon. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?’


how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.


With them they sent the following letter: The apostles and elders, your brothers, To the Gentile believers in Antioch, Syria and Cilicia: Greetings.


He went through Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the churches.


When this had happened, the rest of those on the island who were ill came and were cured.


For with shrieks, impure spirits came out of many, and many who were paralysed or lame were healed.


So the Lord was with Joshua, and his fame spread throughout the land.
