All this took place to fulfil what the Lord had said through the prophet:


where he stayed until the death of Herod. And so was fulfilled what the Lord had said through the prophet: ‘Out of Egypt I called my son.’


and he went and lived in a town called Nazareth. So was fulfilled what was said through the prophets, that he would be called a Nazarene.


But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way?’


But this has all taken place that the writings of the prophets might be fulfilled.’ Then all the disciples deserted him and fled.


Leaving Nazareth, he went and lived in Capernaum, which was by the lake in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali –


‘Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles –


This was to fulfil what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: ‘He took up our infirmities and bore our diseases.’


It is written: “And he was numbered with the transgressors”; and I tell you that this must be fulfilled in me. Yes, what is written about me is reaching its fulfilment.’


He said to them, ‘This is what I told you while I was still with you: everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.’


But this is to fulfil what is written in their Law: “They hated me without reason.”


Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, ‘I am thirsty.’
