When John, who was in prison, heard about the deeds of the Messiah, he sent his disciples


Now Herod had arrested John and bound him and put him in prison because of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife,


After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God.


For Herod himself had given orders to have John arrested, and he had him bound and put in prison. He did this because of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife, whom he had married.


But they insisted, ‘He stirs up the people all over Judea by his teaching. He started in Galilee and has come all the way here.’


Herod added this to them all: he locked John up in prison.


Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside.


Then he went down to Capernaum, a town in Galilee, and on the Sabbath he taught the people.


The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. Finding Philip, he said to him, ‘Follow me.’


What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.


(This was before John was put in prison.)


After the two days he left for Galilee.


This was the second sign Jesus performed after coming from Judea to Galilee.
